New pressure-rated mini circular connectors developed by ITT Interconnect Solutions

IPC 68 standard MIKQ series withstands five PSI: detailed in new applications note

January 2009 - Leading hi-rel connector company, ITT Interconnect Solutions, has developed a mini connector series specifically designed to withstand high pressure environments of up to five PSI. The connectors, designated the MIKQ IP 68 series, were developed in response to customer requests for a harsh-environment mini-circular connector solution which could fit within the same physical space as standard MIKQ connectors but meet a superior specification and suit such applications as tactical communications and control systems, imaging systems and TV camera systems.

ITT Interconnect Solutions designed the MIKQ IP 68 connector series with all insulator and contact areas fully sealed against extremely demanding environments. A new and highly-effective contact system was developed by the company which adheres to a unique sealant material and maintains 0.050 contact spacing. The 37-pin connectors feature a twist pin contact system with standard crimp contact wire terminations which are extremely robust yet cost-effective. Secure connector mating is achieved with a push-pull coupling mechanism and the connector is housed within a brass shell.
